Sick and Homesick
Greetings from Kobe,
It has been a while
but I have been sick to one extent or another the past two weeks.
I'll leave out the details but it was not pretty. At one point I most
likely had the flu, but since then I have been struggling with a
cough. I still don't feel great but I am getting better as this cough
slowly mellows out.
But there has been
one other way that I have been feeling sick lately, homesick. I've
been in Japan for just over a month and I am starting to miss my
favorite foods from the states. Especially after feeling sick, I'm
missing my favorite comfort foods. I am already thinking of what my
first meal when I get back will be, right now on the top of the list
is a Chimichanga followed by Messy Mac & Cheese from Brushfire.
This is not limited to but is most clearly expressed through food.
There are a few other ways that I am feeling homesick but it is a bit
harder to express. In many ways, I am still enjoying Japan but I
think I am starting to find those little things that I don't like as
much, specifically endless meals of instant noodles.
As for any ministry
updates, we are approaching the end of the Japanese School Year. The
Japanese school year ends in mid-March and starts in April, along
with a few other breaks around the year. This means that the English
school will be taking a short break before the start of April, so
this will give me a good opportunity to do a bit of sightseeing.
Pastor Taniguchi also found their Bass Guitar, so I will probably be
playing that a bit soon, although I am not exactly sure in what
context (maybe the youth service).
Also, I don't think
I can go into details yet but there is a possibility that I could
continue to serve in Kobe beyond April and still have an opportunity
in Osaka later in the summer. Nothing has been set in place yet but
it is something worth praying about.
Thank you for your
support and God Bless,
Carl
